Coming along............

Got some pics of the garden today as I've not updated my Facebook album (btw: the link in my signature should link to the public link for the album so everyone can view it, even if you don't have Facebook or if we're not "friends" :D ) There's more photos on there if you wanna see but here's some of the better ones:

A little bit of a good majority of the garden from the back step. In this pic: apple, fig, tomatoes, peppers, corn, melons, mint, scallions, chives, big basil, dwarf basil..I might be missing something:

I cleared away the really tall "mammoth" snow peas and kept the heirloom variety that I had. They're making a comeback. So were the mammoths but they were very big and unsightly plus I really wanted to get the sweet corn in. The sweet corn matures in 78 days so it should do fine even tho I planted it a bit late:

Some of the snowpeas on the vine. These are so yummy. And prolific. I'm definitely getting my fill of snowpeas.

The Peruvian giant corn and some of the melons:

Little baby figs:

Little jalapenos (can't wait to make some guacamole!):

Bell pepper. I'm guessing it'll turn red eventually. It's still pretty young. It's supposed to be red!

Meyer Lemon. I have about 3 or 4 of them this big:

Then I have a whole lot about this big, but the plant keeps dropping these:

Tomaters! I actually don't really like tomatoes. I do like gazpacho (weird, huh?) And I do like putting them in my guac. So I don't want to have a LOT of tomatoes. So we'll see how it goes.

Beets! So excited for these. They grow a lot slower than I thought they would grow.

Bibb head:

Trail o' lettuce:

Not pictured: raspberries, strawberries, artichokes, potatoes, blueberries, more tomatoes

ETA: I live in a small (.13acres) suburban (kinda urban) lot (and part of that is the house) that I rent so space is limited. One day I hope to buy property that I can really tear up and plant!

Wow everything looks great. That green (soon to be red) bell pepper is a beauty! Where do you live that you can grow tomatoes, beets and lemons at the same time?

I like beets didn't now you can grow them around this time. Yeah my lemon tree drops lots of its undeveloped fruit. I added some more compost, epsom salt, rock dust, more fertilizer, worm castings etc. It is making some improvement I think.

Thanks! Glad to know the bell pepper will turn.

I'm in NJ. The lemon is on a weird schedule. In the past it has had lemons ripe on big snow days in February  But I hope these that are on it now actually ripen over the summer and it gets on track with the seasons. It might be confused with going in and out.

My beets are going slow...I planted them back in April! But they don't seem to be ready yet. Tomatoes went in about 3-4 weeks ago. :)

I will have to try some of that....what does the epsom salt and rock dust do? I have added some citrus-specific organic fertilizer but prob need to add more while it's fruiting.

Epsom Salt and rock dust add trace minerals. The Epsom salt gives it magnesium. I use a product called azomite that has like 60 something ( I think) trace minerals in it. Citrus trees need good amounts of trace minerals. The compost I believe has trace minerals too, cause I have added it to potted plants/trees before and I see an improvement. I also think that adding the compost, which adds earthworms and other micro organism really help the health of the soil and the plant's health is improved as a result. They are able to take in/use minerals a lot better.

I use citrus tone fertilizer, the schedule says to use it pre-fruiting, during fruiting, and post-fruiting. I think that is jan/feb, may/june. and then sept/oct.
