Conjoined twins!

I was browsing through my volunteer pumpkin plants this weekend, and I found this oddity:

My very own Siamese Twins! They even have a conjoined vine running off below them:

And then this morning it bloomed:

That would have been a much better picture except that I somehow splashed dirt on it right before I took it :(

I pollinated the twins from two different male flowers, just to mess with Nature a bit.

I covered it with a cage so they don't get eaten by twin squirrels or twin peacocks. I'll try to remember to put some mesh below them to protect from twin gophers as well.

We'll see what happens as they grow.

Eh. That fruit ended up rotting on the vine. :(

But now I've got another Siamese vine growing:

I don't have any Siamese fruit yet, but maybe they'll come later.

I wonder if there's something strange in my water! (It's not the fertilizer, because it started growing this way before I applied any).
