Potato Sprouts From Last Season Popping Up to Say "Hell

Last year I got a nice harvest of Fingerling Potatoes. I thought I got them all up. When I went out to water the potatoes I planted this year, I saw random sprouts coming up from last year. Should I just treat them the way I am the new potato seeds, or yank them up because they won't produce taters??
I am using mushroom compost soil to hill them - worked great last year!!
Thanks!
