Can you plant regular potatoes where sweet potatoes grew last year? I know they aren't in the same family, but wasn't sure if it would be a good idea.
Thanks

You can. Two thoughts though.
I have found that last year's sweet potato bed tends to be pretty nutrient rich because of the roots and almost tubers that were left in the ground to break down, and the the entire bed is extra fluffy from all the digging by the sweet potato roots as well as the harvesting process. So I prefer to take advantage by following with more greedy crop than regular potatoes and crop that benefit from the loose deep bed.
In my garden, I have problems with wireworms getting into root crops. So I prefer not to follow previous year's root crop with another full season root crop.
