Cucumbers and rockmelons

Can I plant them next to each other?
Also, the place where I've thought I can plant them is a terrace that has been broken into by some roots of some banana plants. There's no many roots and it is only on one side, but I'm scared the bananas suck all the water from the terrace and the other plants won't do very well.

Are you planning to collect seeds for next year? If you are, it'll depend on what kind of cucumbers. Regular cucumbers will be OK, but Armenian and some other varieties of "cucumbers" are actually melons and will cross with other melons. This won't affect this season's fruits, but their seeds won't grow true next year.
