Another cuc question

Not sure if the cucs are ready to be harvested yet. They are between 6-8 inches long, 1 to 1.5 inches wide, and are dark green. They still have the white prickly things on them.

I forgot the specific name for these cucs b/c they were seeds used from last years harvest. I personally think they're ready but I'm not sure.

They sound perfect for pickling!

You can always pick 1-2 and sample how they taste. I usually just gently rub the spines off under some cold running water when I pick mine.

I tried pickling cucs last year. I'm trying to forget that taste testing experience. *shudders*

I'm noticing that the flowers on the cuc plants are getting really small, and are drying out within hours. Is this a sign the cuc plants are on their way out?
