I made these trellises that I saw online. They angle over the lettuce to help shade it from summer sun. You really can't see the irrigation, but it is down there. The only thing in my garden right now is lettuce, carrots, onions, potatoes in the back of the garden. The box to the right of my garden is my strawberries, and oh my corn is in but it is behind the white fence on the backside of the garden. I'll take more pics once I get things going in a month or so.

From what I read it doesn't like the summer heat, and I'm assuming it will make it last longer this way. I planted that whole row as lettuce, but it is in 3rds every 2 weeks. So I should still have lettuce coming up a month after the 1st lettuce is done and hopefully the shade will help the younger lettuce last longer. There is actually plenty of room behind the trellis to cut off the lettuce if I walk down the row between the lettuce and carrots. I just used regular old studs, but I painted them with some deck stain I had leftover to help repel some mosture from the wood. The material is just chicken wire.
