Can I grow squash in 5g containers?

Like 1 squash per 5 gallong bucket. will it be enough? I was thinking either a pumpkin or a summer squash or a blue hubbard squash?

I don't think so. Squash plants spread out several feet, so you'll need to provide room for that. Is there a reason you can't plant your squash directly in the ground?

The root system for a squash plant has to be fairly large in order to provide water and nutrition to all that top growth. According to this [url=https://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/1000/1647.html]fact sheet from Ohio State University[/url], the container must be at least 24" deep. That will be deeper and also wider than a 5-gallon bucket.

You may try one of the compact varieties, but even they may be too vigorous to be limited in 5 gallons of soil.

Also squash likes to root at various points along the stem where the vines are crawling along the ground.

Last year I planted a acorn squash in a 16"x16"x16" pot. However many gallons that is? I got squash off it but it could have been happier in a even bigger pot. Don't think I'll be doing that again. Hope that answers your question.

Please give it a try then report. Be advised that pumpkins, and hubbards grow long vines. You can probably find some seed for a bush variety of summer squash.

I grew squash in half barrels last year with about the same success as the guy in the video which to me was unsuccessful.
