when to pick turnips?

never grown turnips before, they've gotten pretty big. At what point should I pick. golfball? baseball?

I will start on them at golfball size. They will get much bigger as time passes.

I agree with jal_ut on starting size, but then I don't let them get to baseball size... luvz me some turnips!

We mostly just harvest the tops, but follow Jal_ut's method to harvest roots.

Hello, We grow Purple top. I wouldnt let them get any larger than a soft ball as they tend to get woody. :D
