Jalapeno plant...

So I'm in Michigan of course, and it was getting in the low 40's last month...I brought the plant inside and the leaves started dying. Well, its been really nice this week, so I cut off all the leaves, and took it outside this weekend. And it looks like the peppers are turning red. Is this good or bad? Its my first pepper plant =-)

It has 3 peppers, the smallest and the biggest are changing. The smallest is little more than an inch long, the biggest might be 3".[/img]

Jalapenos turn red when ripe. They can be eaten green or red. When they get red the flavor is slightly different. They make chipotles out of the mature red jalapenos.

Nothing wrong with them being red. Try them green and try them red and see what you think.

The only reason I know of for not letting them ripen is that leaving them on the plant long enough to ripen tends to slow the plant down from producing more peppers. Earlier in the season, that would make a difference, if you want a better yield. This late in the season, that is kind of irrelevant, you aren't going to get much more anyway.

I planted it in April, and those three started growing the last week of August early September...so yea not much yield for this crop =-)

I'll post a picture later.
