Do you see it Ma! Beans here, potatoes there and over here corn!
So you have had two crappy gardening years in a row. What do you do, Give up? NO! You double your headache.
My garden is currently 54ft x 72ft. With this clearing, it could go as large as 54ft x 140ft. Basically doubled.
Stumps and roots to pull. Soil to move around and amend. Maybe more fencing.

Soil, soil wrote:what do you do with all the brush and wood debris?
I didn't want to burn anymore time and gasoline chipping, so the debris was pushed to the perimeters. Majority of it was pushed to the northern edge along my loop drive. Along this edge I will be planting nut trees. Mostly Filberts. If you look at the second picture , expanded, you can see the brown at the base of the willows. This is the eastern edge.
Stella, You can't go much farther north than San Juan Island.
I can see Canada from my house. Not really, but you can from the west side.

Gardening is not finite.lakngulf wrote:Have soil, Will plant

Good luck with the expansion. It is probably a good fact that I have only a small place to plant a garden. Otherwise, I would go way overboard.

I was wondering if you've ever visited the home of author Betty MacDonald on Vashon Island?
Nope never been.

I am so jealous!!! I live in a duplex right in town... small back yard, and a rental so not too much I can do. But if I could I would be doing the same thing!
Hoping to move soon, probably to a different state even! Thinking Montana, so hopefully somewhere with land where I can finally plant the garden I have been wanting to plant!

Eric, you've got the right idea! If at first you don't succeed, make your garden bigger!
If your soup is cold, make your garden bigger.
If your light bulb burns out, make your garden bigger.
If you......well, you get the idea .
You're quite fortunate to have so much land to be able to improve like that!
