Today's rainy day pick'ns

Raining for a few days now & not getting above 50 today. 43° f last night.
Figured it was time to snack on some garden stuff since it is almost the end of growing season for us.
2nd cutting of broccoli, a side shoot. will steam it for supper tonight.
carrots did/doing well this year, (eating one now )
turnips big & sweet. wonder why some get bigger than others ??
Green house tomatoes & cucs are just gooooooood.

Looks good. It is weird how the plants vary in size. Enjoy

Nice haul! When does your season end up there? How many days do you get? My neighbor gardened in Alaska for many years. She tells me people grow giant pumpkins up there!

Now THAT is a huge turnip! Did it taste good, or was it "pithy" inside?

Ending now. hope to get some beans & more peas yet, gonna be close. Some beans on but small. No new growth from here on out.
Been filling the compost bin with broccoli leaves, beet tops & adding Horse manure compost for the browns.
We might have 2 more weeks, then it can frost anytime after Aug 20th, usually.

Solid & good tasting. Froze some up for moose stew this winter. I've had them allot bigger & still good. Gotta cut the bug holes out, but it was a good one.
