Chicken Tractor for your Garden.

Look at the video this is an interesting idea. Bug control and free fertilizer. Put geese inside you get weed and grass control.

I like the first chook tractor but my dad didn't like it he thinks it would be better to make one that is a little bit bigger so you can leave the chooks in there 24/7 but a bigger one wont fit in-between my new veggie beds which are 2 feet apart at the closest part of my veggie patch so I think that if I make the smaller chook tractor for the chooks and use 3 or 4 chooks at a time even if they are only in there for a few hours a day it will work better for me.

That's a great idea. Also, it would give me a good excuse to get into raising poultry!

I wonder if it would be better to use geese, ducks, or chickens? I'm sure Eric will be along to answer that one .

geese would require a pretty big tractor.

ducks would help with slug control a lot better than chickens...

Well this morning about 10:30 I type out a long post on this topic. I commented on ducks, geese, muscovies and rabbits. I talked about my rabbit tractor and why I no longer have rabbits. When I hit the review button, I was taken to the log in page. The whole thing disappeared into cyberspace. Frustrated!

So, Here's a quike and simple comment. This is how my brother does it, take a look.

I have chickens and a garden. From everything I read though, it's not good to have chicken poop right on to the plants. Too strong. Should be aired out and composted for awhile first, or could burn your plants. Every morning I clean out the coop, with some pine chips included, and add it to my compost bin. I'll be putting a layer on after the growing season, and another after winter.
