Sunflowers are blooming!

Well, not quite, but soon:

The plant is about 4 1/2 feet tall right now. I assume it'll keep growing while the flower develops:

There was supposed to be a whole row of these, extending another 20' to the left of the photo, but either they didn't germinate or critters got 'em.

Yep, they'll keep getting taller. Blooms are coming soon. Here's mine right now. They're just cool plants to grow and the bees love them.

What variety did you plant, and when did you plant?

Mine were "Mammoth" from Home Depot, and I direct sowed on May 7th.

Everything seems to be behind schedule for me this year, but our May/June was unseasonably cool.

Mine are also Mammoth Russian, seeds saved from last year's flowers. I direct-sowed on April 29, but I'm in zone 5b.

I could use some bee magnets. I had _tons_ of bees last year, but that's because I had a beehive in my shed, which I recently had relocated.

Now that "my" bees are gone, I need to attract someone else's bees.

Nice, mine are a ways away, I got Titan variety from tradewinds, they were on sale, about 3 feet now, and no signs of slowing down, I've read they can reach 12 feet with heads up to 24" accross, I think I'll grow smaller ones next year, but how could I resist that?

P.S. They are still on sale at tradewinds, 10-15 seeds for a dollar.
