eggplant flowers

I planted eggplant plants for the first time this year. The plants seem to be growing quickly and buds appeared about two weeks ago. The buds are getting bigger, but I'm surprised that the flowers haven't opened yet. Is that usual? How long should it take for the flowers to open? Or is there a problem with my plants?

Thanks,
Beth

In my experience the first blossoms often take more time to open then those that follow. Mine are doing that too and today 3 of them are open, but not the rest, so for now be patient. Weather has an effect as well.

Thank you! The first flower finally opened today. :-) Hopefully more follow soon. And hopefully they grown eggplants!

I noticed that the flower that had been fully opened this afternoon was closed by 5:30 pm. Is that normal? Do they close every night?
