Broken squash plants

I have now just lost my fourth squash plant
firts 2 were summer and last 2 butternut. They have been
fine until they start setting fruit. Seems to be no damage
to the fruit or plant other that cutoff at ground level.
I have toothpicks around all of the plants at the base.
I also have tried cornmeal Not able to find and svb damage
What could be doing this to such large plants.
I will try to submit a pick soon

Possibly cutworm. You can try putting collars around the plants at ground level. Some use toilet paper tubes when the plants are small.
