Another year's supply of scape pesto is now stashed away in the freezer! Last year we tried using them some of the other ways, but we liked the pesto the best, so that's all I did with them this year.
As for the bulbils, I believe it takes a couple of growing seasons for them to produce a full head of garlic.

I put the seed heads ?bulbils? in the ground last fall, they came up(yes like thin grass blades).
They grew well this spring and they had heads curling under.
I wanted that area to plant something else, so I dug them up and they had nice small bulbs(thumb sized bulbs with several cloves) and good taste. The ones I pulled a month ago had no taste(no seed heads).
Still I think I pulled them too early, because the seed heads are a little immature.
