Beautiful produce, Eric. My wife wanted to know why my picking was not that pretty. The weather map has shown your area with some pleasant temps the last few days. What has it been like around you? Here in the Southland it is HOT.
We have eaten some great green beans, squash. Yesterday was the first frying of okra, and the pepper is just beginning. Squash is about to be taken by the heat, so I have some new plants coming along. Tomatoes this year is a different story. Best I can tell from sympthoms, looks like Southern Bacterial Blight.

GB, I stir fried a little pork with Joi Choi, scapes, green onions and the peas right at the end. It was pretty good. Now tell me, what do you use the Joi Choi flower for? And what is everyone talking about pictures of the dogs, guess I missed something
If you look at photo number two, upper left, you will see my dog Peppercorn.
Very nice weather lately. It did rain Friday night and Saturday morning. Not sure how it measured. I don't think we have been above mid 70's this spring. July 5th is about when things kick off.The weather map has shown your area with some pleasant temps the last few days. What has it been like around you? Here in the Southland it is HOT.

June 22nd 2011
petalfuzz,
Gardening is a bit of a guessing game and every spring is different. 2010 and this year have been interesting.
Harvested strawberries today. Shuksan and Seascapes are in full swing. Should get about two weeks out of the Shuksan and the rest of the summer from the Seascapes.

He he, It was intentional.Eric, I did see the typo, but figured it was intentional (given the nature of the above photo). Thus, I didn't comment on it.
....Sorry if we're acting like a bunch of "stakes" in the mud .

I'll have to stop, ask myself, what’ve I done?

GB,
The strawberries are waiting in the refrigerator. I will wash, slice and vacuum seal this evening.

June 28th 2011,
I'm surprised and happy that my two weed patches are pumping out the berries.

gardenbean,
Nay, You are over half way there. Planning is a big part of gardening. If you plant a everbearing variety, fruit the first year.
James,
What variety are you growing? How do you store?
**Looking at the Shuksan photo, looks like my tool shed is sinking into the pond. Just a bad photo. **

I am growing two varieties of everbearers. I have long since forgotten their names. We freeze them. I had some June bearers and they were great in June, but the patch got overun with grass. The June bearers had larger fruit than the everbearers.James,

Apple, I was having trouble vacuum sealing the strawberries. The juice kept interfering. Now I freeze the berries first, then vacuum.
Kale this evening. 6 of us for dinner, hope this is enough.

I pull a few of the larger weeds while I'm harvesting. This is year 2 for these two patches. This fall I will lift divide and replant in a new location. What do you do about all of the weeds in the strawberry patch? Do you wait until the plants die back and pull them, or do you just let them go?
