There was a thread about that last year. Don't have time to look for it now, but some keywords are bleach and ummm.... Blowtorch? some kind of flame or fire -- to sterilize them, I mean.

I don't know, weren't those words "bleach", "blowtorch", "possible zombie apocalypse", "RUN"

But in all seriousness.. doesn't bleach fix everything?

99.9% of people don't bother disinfecting their cages. Early blight spores are going to blow in from the surrounding area anyway.

You may think about spraying them down with vinegar.

Don't throw away perfectly good cages.

If my memory serves blight lasts in the soil not on metal.

keep the cages, move the tomatoes.

I bleach all of my cages/tomato ladders/stakes AND all of my containers whether we had a problem or not.

Moving them or using fresh soil in containers is a must if you have any diseases.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like it's hopeless. I was hoping the keywords will help you look for that thread where there was a pretty in depth discussion to draw a conclusion from.

Still don't have time to look.

I don't do anything special with my stakes or cages, but I do rotate my plantings from year to year. I'm sure it woudn't hurt to take the extra precaution of sanitizing the cages, but I wouldn't throw them away.
