Mulching

Does anyone ever use regular mulch over paper? I would like to try that with my tomtaoes using plain cedar mulch - no color added - to help prevent soil born diseases.

I put cedar mulch in my garden, it has helped keep the moisture in check with the hot sun I have here as well as splash up from the soil when watering. It also seems to help keep the soil cool underneath the mulch.

I mulch my tomatoes with newspaper then grass clippings. Works well for me.

This year, I'm trying mulching my garden with last fall's leaves. The weeds are SO much more manageable than last year!
