how many bean stalks to a pole?

I'm using the sq ft method--the book says 8 beans to a sq ft, but it doesn't mention how many "poles" are needed.

I am growing 8 KY Wonders in a sq ft.

Thanks!

Mel is so fond of trellising all the plants in the SFG method that I doubt you'll find *any* info on the number of poles in his book. Maybe a trellis and non-square placement of the bean plants?

My beans are already planted in the fashion recommended in the book. I would rather grow them up a pole if possible.

Would it be unwise to grow more than one stalk up a single pole? If not, what is the max you would grow up each pole?

Thanks!

Did some searchimg on the web and found my answer in a very good article about pole beans. I don't know the rules on linking other sites here, so I won't do that....

But in case anyone is interested, it said 3 stalks per pole.

I would put 2 poles per sq foot if you have 8 plants. They will be fine.
