When should I stop hilling my potatoes?

I planted Fingerling potatoes the first week of April and hilled them up until I saw flowers. Should I continue to hill them/fertilize them now or should I stop? Also how long should I wait to dig for tubers? I don't want new potatoes because Fingerlings are small anyway.

Thanks in advance for the advice!! :D

Usual practice is to hill them until you get about 8 inches of soil over top of the original seed tuber. This is usually accomplished with one or two hillings that cover most of the plant while it is still little. Dig the tubers up two weeks or more after the plants die. The two weeks gives the skin time to thicken for better storage.

I second what TZ said. However, some folks have done it to greater degrees. Especially those who practice container gardening.
