In past years have used nursery produced plants for my squashes etc. This year a major step for me.... starting from scratch.. I understand about cotyledons but how long does it take for the true leaves to appear? It has been only 7 to 8 days and the seedlings are several inches long. should I wait before transplanting. Unfortunately the weather here is still uncertain. Do I plant all of the stem below the cotyledon ? Do I wait for the true leaves?
It obvious from this note that I am a rank amateur in growing from seeds, but what a feeling seeing the sprouts come out. 65 and counting
Thanks in advance

Go plant it in your garden. Squash and cukes are best planted from seed right where it will be grown. IMO
They actually do better and do not suffer from transplant shock. If you have a seed left, plant it near the start when you plant the start and watch what happens. I plant squash about the date of last average frost. Cukes a week later. If you are past that date for your area, I would plant them out.
