Keep them in until it warms up...only a few more days.

I agree with TZ, just wait. I have plants I started from seed that are hardened off, but they are staying indoors the next few nights.

I live just south of you in Cincinnati. I have everything in the ground already, so it will just have to tough it out. But if it weren't already planted, I would definitely wait the extra days.

This has been a difficult spring with extremes of everything!

Same problem here. (I'm north of Dayton) I have all my seeds sown and most have sprouted, but I have tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers that I started indoors to go in the ground. I hardened them off over the last week and planned to put them in the ground today (last frost date). I'm bringing them indoors over the next few nights. I don't think there really is much advantage to getting them in the ground as early as possible, unless they are getting rootbound in the pots. As for the plants I mentioned above, it's the summer heat that gets them growing. They won't do much until then anyway.

waiting to plant

Holding off until mid week up here... Though, there is forecasted, a low of 39 for the 27th. Isn't the temperature but the windchill that worries me.

Wind chill does not affect plants.

yeah mine are already in the ground and I live in NE Ohio near the PA border, so far theyve been fine, its the rains that are killing my plants not the temps or the animals :(

Hello, I am East of Cincy. I finished putting my garden in this weekend. I set out tomatos, peppers, eggplant, melons and the broc. and sprouts but they are not a concern. It rained here last night and temp. stayed up in upper 40's so no frost. Everything looks alive and ok this afternoon. The calender said plant so I planted lol. (Work during the week, out of town plans for upcoming weekends so...) I am threatening death to anyone/thing stepping on my rows. I do not want that super moist (ok wet) soil getting packed down and each step does that. Also nothing is going to germinate or jump up in growth during this cold but....everything is in, I hope safe, and waiting for some sun sun sun. When it gets here I am ready!!!
While planting I created and stayed on my paths. I tried to not even set a hand out on the tilled and raked rows. My paths are packed solid, the rows are looser, higher and draining better. I should take a picture. I hear they are worth a thousand word lol. Good luck folks!!! Oh and if you do see a bright glowing disk in the sky, too bright even to stare at, remain calm. It is just the sun. It has been so long now since it was in the sky, that some are starting to forget what it looks like.

Yeah, all my garden is surviving the cold, but not thriving due to so wet and the lack of that weird bright warm stuff, what did we used to call that? Oh yeah... sunshine!

Also missing a little sunshine in SW ohio.
I have tomato & pepers in, they made it through the night just fine.
My root crop(onion, radish, garlic, potatoes), did okay during the last frost a month ago. There were pepper & tomatos in cups on the deck during that frost and they survived(a little brown edge on a few) all is fine today and those are in the ground and growing(slowly).
I have a few dozen plants in cups outside I am wating till its not so wet. Not because of the ground being too wet, but MDW hates when I bring most of the garden soil in on my clothes.

Most of my stuff I have planted are doing okay, but not great. A few carrots have germinated, the Romaine lettuce is growing a bit and the blackberry bushes are doing better than I expected. Tomatoes, peppers and basil look weak, strawberries seem to be starting okay. Two cherry trees are going gangbusters!
