Cucumbers, melon & squash - a few questions

These plants are all in the same family and melon is new tomy garden. Do I need to separate them or can I grow them in the same area?

Last year, we lost all of our cucumbers to wilt - what can I grow in this soil this year? I haven't had that problem before.

hit or miss

I would be fine with planting them in the same area together, as long as it is big enough they don't get totally tangled up together. As far as the wilt goes, I like to rotate so nothing grows in the same area for at least 3 years. I'd probably go back in with some type of root crop or green beans.

The melon (mini) and cucumbers will be trellised so they will be straight and manageable.

I am growing Eight Ball squash which is supposed to be a bush type so that should be fine.

I am thinking of using the soil from containers that had wilted plants for herbs such as scallions, tarragon, chives.

I have just added 5 raised beds to my previous "all container" garden area which will help with rotating "crops."
