THREE seed leaves?

Was looking over my seedling trays tonight and happened to notice that one of my jalapeno plants had THREE seed leaves. This is the ONLY one out of about 150 of the seedlings to do so. Is this a common sighting or do I have a mutant plant on my hands?

its just a mutant. besides the fact that it looks a little different, there isnt anything wrong with it. youll sometimes see sproutlings with just 1 leaf. either way, the little plant just wants to grow its butt off.

I often find that these 'tricots,' as I call 'em, are slightly more vigorous than their brethren.

Yes, some kind of mutation, uncommon, but not totally rare. I had a couple this year. It will be fine! (I hadn't noticed more vigorous, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention.)

hmmm, potatoes, all my tricots were the slower of the 2 seedlings. happened with a Cappuccino Hab, Chocolate Fatalii, a couple other peppers, and my White Queen tomatoes.

Weirdest one I had was my Prik Wiang Ping pepper, it branched naturally after its seed leaves, it came out with 4 true leaves right away, bound to be a bushy plant.

I've had this happen with red alert tomatoes. I thought I had a muntant, too. The plants grew and produced, just like their two leaved brothers, but it is pretty neat. :)

Yeah, I've gotten them before as well. Since it is these seed leaves that supply nutrients to the seedlings, I would suspect that having an extra one would be beneficial.
