asparagus

I have a 5 year old asparagus garden.Do I cut the small shoots that grow up or do I leave them?

Cut them and enjoy the harvest until the first of July.After that let them grow until they die back in the fall.Then cut them at ground level and add an inch or so of manure or compost.They will be ready to give another harvest next year.
