I thought I would share some pics of my garden so far this year.
I thought I would have fun this year and have made a teepee for my bean plants, I tied 6 pipes together (they were lying around the property) then strung some hemp rope up and down for something that the vines can grab onto. my hopes is that I can compost the rope along with the plants and not have to worry about removing the vines. you can kind of see at the base around the teepee I have buried some chicken wire in the hopes that the gophers won't mess with the roots.

Here is my son's raised bed he made for his gardening merit badge. He even drove the tractor to fill it. He decided where to put the bed and it wasn't until after it was filled that I realized that they put it where it will by shaded by the beans, too late now. he has to grow 6 different veggies and raise through harvest, and 6 different flowers and raise through flowering. He also needs to maintain compost bin/pile.

front view of my tiered (or what ever it's called) garden on the side of the ravine. I think this might be the last year for using the top tier, the trees are starting to get big. It has 3 tiers, top, middle for walking, then the bottom, I don't currently plant anything at the very bottom because it's very sandy.

side view, hubby has been cutting down trees at work and using them for my garden.

my garden "beds". we had some extra bunk beds that we couldn't give away so my hubby turned them into raised beds, I will be using one for herbs this year

This is just what is in the front of the house, we also plant along the fence line in the back to use the fence for climbing plants, and I also started planting in another new area in the front that I didn't get pics of.

Creative use of materials at hand. Before I built my trellises for cucumbers and pole beans, I would go down to the river batture and cut down long, straight willow branches and use them for my supports. It gave my garden an old-timey look and was more appealing to the eye than the trellises I now have. But they were more time consuming in the long run.
I like the use of the old bunk beds for a raised bed for herbs. Looks like you have a nice piece of property with plenty of room for growth-----literally.

yes we have 7 acres but not all is usable. the one spot where we have the garden is one of the few spots that we can actually dig into the ground, we are surrounded by rocks and most of the ground is DG. actually the flat area where the teepee and raised bed are is all fill dirt dumped into one section of the ravine, we have a culvert going under it for when it rains or we would have a big mess. we like using and reusing things that we find.
