Are tomatillos self-fertile?

I read somewhere that they are, and somewhere else that they aren't. I picked up one plant at a nursery last week, and now I don't know if I should go grab another.

Thanks. This year I'll see how it grows, and if I like the fruit. If so, I can save seeds and plant all over the place next year. I've got no more room in the garden.

youll be happy to know deer do not eat tomatillos and neither do gophers. the roots, stems, leaves are toxic. the fruit is perfectly safe to eat. we plant them outside fenced areas and actually use them as a living fence sometimes.

Good to know, but I don't have deer or gophers. I think my dachshunds would let me know if there were a small burrowing mammal in the area. They go nuts for days if a possum wanders through the yard. I mostly have issues with the possum, and rats and mice. City gardening.
