can I grow spuds now in my newly cleared back garden it is south westerly facing and gets full sun all day from about 9.30 am.
we have just totally transformed our back garden and it is just a blank canvas with fencing around it, the soil is good and rich looking in texture (not cloggy nor brittle dry). I would love to try spuds for our first home grown, but is it possible this year or is it too late ? also do I need to treat the soil this year for next ?
utter noob to gardening but want to grow our own so badly.

There are several thousand different varieties of potatoe out there so, who knows but, generally speaking I would say that it is to late to plant now. (At least to have a crop for this year)

I always leave a few potatoes in the ground as seed potatoes and get a bumper crop each year but, most people plant their potatoes in the spring. (You can get some real deals on potatoes this time of year if you can find them though. Just stick them in the ground and hope for the best.)
