An answer to squirrel problems in the garden

Squirrels took every single tomato that developed on 8 particular plants that were isolated from the garden this year, and I resorted to shooting (ok, attempting would be more like it) them in city limits. Well, I'm not such a good shot, so went to the internet to see what options were available for trapping them. For about $50, you can buy all kinds of live (or dead) critter traps - but I just decided to make my own live trap from scratch.

It's constructed from scrap lumber, 1/2" wire mesh, spring hinges, welding rods, a spring, a homemade roller, parts from a computer, the wand from a pump-up sprayer, and an empty smokeless tobacco can.

Have you caught any squirrels in the trap?

I am thankful we have not had a squirrel problem here.
