I killed a tiny white worm

I was doing my daily morning garden walk and noticed a tiny white worm (1/5 of an inch long) moving across the floor of the garden. As soon as I got down to see it closer, the worm moved insanely fast and shot into the soil. I then grabbed a handful of soil where it dove in and I got him.

Like I said, this tiny white worm moved insanely fast. I then killed it. Any idea on what kind of worm this was?

I don't know what it was, Francis, but I want to say I enjoyed reading your description of finding it and dispatching it
