Are these carrots safe to eat?

They have been in the ground for some time now so I decided to pick them this morning. I noticed some growths on the tips of them. What is it from and is it ok to eat?

OK, I'm seeing totally normal carrots there.... That looks like the regular root hairs and whatnot.

Hairy carrots usually is a sign of to much fertilizer or maybe under watered. Mostly likely to rich a diet.

Yes, safe to eat. Just clean them up and enjoy. If under watered they maybe a little tough.

But those bumps on the side are ok? I know the 2nd pic is kinda blurry you can see it better on the 1st one.

Yup. If you'd left them in the ground longer, those bumps would have made carrot legs.

They are fine. Take a kitchen srubbing pad or brush and clean them up. If the shoulders are green cut that off, it will be bitter.

Mine look the same and we eat them all the time. They are great raw and cooked. Enjoy:)

Yep, they're fine. Those multiple legs are often due to hard/rocky soil. Sandy soil is really one of the preferred for carrot growing....they originated in the Middle East, after all .

Last year, I had more odd-looking ones than normal ones, but they all tasted the great.

Wrap them in foil with some butter and toss them on the grill for about a beer. Tasty!
