Hello..new to all this
I have a cucumber plant that has already produced and the plant is still growing, but does not seem to be producing any new cucumbers. Is there something that I should be doing to help them produce fruit?

you can try adding fertilizer with high-phosohorus, and make sure any dead flowers that did not fruit are removed. You can also try pinching the plant back and watering it a little less.

what do you mean by pinching the plant back?

Generally speaking, we pinch out the suckers as the plant grows. This means that when you have a branch coming from the stem, small new branches (suckers) will form between the apex of the original branch and the stem. They are pinched off. This produces more fruit on the plant because the plant does not put most of it's energy into growing and puts it's energy into growing fruit.

Anything to add femlow?

Can someone tel me when I have taken out all the shoots from between the main branch and the off shoot do I need to cut the plant further back, or do I now let nature take its course and see what happens. Appart from furtalizing the plant is there anything else that I can do? Does the plant need much water at this stage, or do I just need to water daily and not twice daily, as I am doing at present?
