Garlic left too long...benefit

I left a half dozen garlic plants in the ground to mature the bulbils on top. When I dug them up after the plant had died off most of the paper was decaying so unlike my newly cured garlic the cloves were easy to clean by just pulling the coverings off. So keeping some garlic in the ground late in the summer has its benefit for fresh use, especially if you want a bunch of loose cloves for baking.

You learn something new every year with gardening, don't you? That's one of the neat things about it, it's a constant learning experience.
