Awesome, I have been looking for a reasonably priced one.
Because if power is out, the blender won't help at all!

Does it work well, or is it one that you need muscles to operate?

How fast is it? I know not like electric, but how long would it take to grind a cup of wheat berries for cracked cereal, or for flour?

Very good information!

Of course it is going to take some effort. We have another one that is harder to turn. It doesn't take long to crank out a cupful for cracked wheat cereal. I have not actually timed it. We saw this one on display at a local store and they had wheat there you could grind. It was so much easier to turn than the one we had, so we bought it.

You need 1/2 cup of cracked wheat and 1.5 cups water per serving.

My SO rigged up an old stationary bike to operate our grinder. He rode it and ground flour while he watched TV.

I don't know if it is the same all over, but here we can buy wheat in bags or buckets at the supermarkets. Costwise, it varies but is usually about $5.50 for a 25 pound bag.

It is usually in the bulk food section. Sometimes in the Fall it will be on an endcap or something on a special sale. I suggest you ask.

Check out these old grocery store electric grainders cheap $24 to $100. They make great grain grinders. They will grind wheat, barley, corn, soy beans anything you like. They are electric and fast.
