Cedar Mulch

Hello, I used cedar mulch on my garden without thinking. My question is what do I do with it after the growing season? Do I scoop it away or will it decompose over the winder?

I did read a thread where is stated cedar should not be mixed in the soil because of nitrogen absorbtion...

I use cedar mulch all the time.It is great as mulch around trees and perennials.I don't use any kind of wood chips where it is going to be tilled into the soil.It will deplete nitrogen at first but will release it again as it breaks down.

I agree, keep the cedar mulch for flower gardens, etc.

try scooping it out at the end of the season as best as possible, and use straw next year if you need to mulch.
