What's wrong with my squash now?

Ok so my squash were getting BER. So I added garden lime and cut all the bad squash off, two weeks later I test the soil and it is still good. But this is what its looking like...

This is what a couple look like where the flowers have fallen off.

I also cut off about 6 leaves from the bottom that look like this. The stem is very squishy and disgusting looking.

I also just found another with BER this morning (where they flower was burnt brown color and the fruit was squishy and grey at the top, along with a horrid smell)

You can expect the performance and aesthetics of your plants to diminish as hot temperatures arrive. All kinds of problems will occur - as you are seeing. If things cool down a bit, you can usually get another productive growth spurt from them as long as powdery mildew is kept at bay. Good luck!

I'm no expert or anything, but that all looks normal to me. at least from my experience anyways!

Doesn't really look like BER to me....but I am pretty new to all this.

The flowers are going to die off like that after they have blossomed and been pollinated. The end of the squash after the flower fell off looks pretty normal. That one had a pretty good size flower attachment (mine are usually not that big around), but I for one would not be worried about that result. Just cut it off and eat the thing!

I sort of missed this part in your text and focused on the pictures, which all looked normal.

what size are those squishy ones? If they are small (couple inches?) then they may have just not gotten pollinated correctly?

I live in Monterey, ca
The average temperature here is 68 degrees
Heat shouldn't be a problem here.

And they are normal size, the only squishy part is the first inch after the flower. If I cut that off the rest is like normal (and it doesn't hurt to eat it, or hasnt yet.)

-----------

I was just concerned cause none of my squash are growing like my parents (where the flower only has a small spot.) anytime the flower does fall off before BER then its a 1/2 - 1 inch circle .

Would cutting the flower off after its dead help at all?
