corn question/problem w pics. AND harvest pics!

ok so my question: I ordered the gotta have it! sweet corn from gurneys catalogue. I have 5 rows that are about 8 feet long each. I just noticed one stalk has the hairs on it looking like a regular developing ear... but another stalk has an ear developing but no hair??? I don't know whats going on... but here are some pics to describe what I see....

and here is a pic of my recent harvest: : D yukon gold potatoes, carrots and green beans, roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper served over parmesan cous cous!

There are some insects that eat the silk. IF there really is no silk, then no kernels of corn will form.

thanks for the help and input, but I am still trying to figure out why an ear of corn would develop without hair?

Could they just be late emerging? You may see the end unravel and silk emerge in a day or two....

That was my thought too... those look really small right now. I would give them a few days to see what happens.

Nice harvest!

About the corn. Just wait and see what happens. Nothing to do about it anyway. Sometimes corn will make two ears, sometimes one, and sometimes none, per stalk. It depends on soil fertility and growing conditions. Make sure the corn has water right now as it is tasseling. Getting the weeds out of a corn patch will help the corn too.
