Help please, what is wrong with my squash and cucumbers?

I posted on another forum and nobody seems to be answering me so I'll try here I like the format of this forum better anyways

So, here is the squash... anyone know what is wrong with it?

I would like to know too - my squash looks like that. Have you seen any worms in the squash? I've see a couple and the leaves are all turning yellow.

I've looked at those sites and many more but I can't seem to pinpoint WHICH disease it is. I want to treat it but I can't figure out what to treat it with because I don't know exactly what it is, make sense? so yeah. if it is fungal then I'll just spray with what I'm spraying the tomatoes with all my hopes of organic gardening is now over. sigh............

A lot of us are spraying curcurbits with milk diluted with water >> Milk Solution. There are links to original studies floating around, but essentially, it's been shown to be effective in preventing and controlling fungal problems like powdery mildew. As dilute as 10% Milk as preventive but I generally go with about 1:8 or 1/4 C milk to 2 C water, for active infection, some people say 50/50 but I guess I stop short at 1:3. Adding a small amount of yogurt or yogurt whey seems to help as well. (I've also added things like water from rinsing sour cream container)

I spray tomatoes, roses, Monarda, oh Apple trees --- just about anything that might get fungal problems during these humid months.

yeah... I'm dealing with early blight right now on my 30 tomato plants. what a pain. I hope I don't lose them.


OK, so I only have powdered dry milk, that will work yes? I assume I would just mix it up like the instructions say and then dilute it from there right?


Do both the cucumebrs and the squash look like a fungal thing? will it cure it or just prevent it from further spreading or what?

Apple, have you found the milk solution to be effective at treating or curing septoria? I've only heard of it for squash, but if it works for fungal diseases on squash, why not tomatoes?

OK, I went out and tried to spray with the milk solution. My 5y old thought he'd "help" and pump the thing while I sprayed. well, he was wild with the pumping and broke the stupid handle. I just bought the thing yesterday! so I got some sprayed anyways.

Once a week and take that sprayer back they will more than likely give you another one.

Hello-
I have a problem with my pumkin leaves too. Some of them have a white powdery substance on them-is this a fungus too? Just to confirm what you have said should I try the milk/water remedy as suggested? My pumpkins are growing fine it's jsut the leaves. I have also noticed this on one of my zucchini plants. What is this caused by? If it's not one thing it's another in these gardens! Yikes!

You know what I think it is? I think it is scab on the yellow squash. FInally I think I've figured it out!!! so fungicide or milk it is. I'll do the milk does not work then I guess I move on to fungicide.

Now to figure out what the cucumbers problems are!
