vine borer damage?

The zuke is producing and seems healthy but the stem attached to ground looks like it's all fibrious and dry. Is it borer damage? How do I fix it if it is.

I don't think it's borer damage, because my zucchini look just like that. They're quite healthy, and continue to grow well...

Usually, there will be some "sawdust" if vine borer has done it's evil deed. :evil:

That's normal, the stems of my zucchini always looks kind of rough, as well.

In my experience, the SVB damage will cause the lower leaves to fall off easily, and then you can look inside and see the critters. Chances are you don't have them, but at the end of the season carefully remove the entire plant - just in case.
