Lettuce has bolted - What to plant now?

I am in NY - north of the city - zone 6. What can I plant at this time of year, if anything, in the space where my lettuce once lived.

Thanks

Don't forget to leave a stalk or two for seed-saving .

Can you tell me more about the seed saving? Just let it bolt and seed, then save the seeds? Can I plant them later this year - in the fall?
