Pictures of my garden (lots of pics)

Here are some pictures of my garden as of June 30th. This is before the attack of the ginormous zukes! LOL! Enjoy! Don't hesitate to leave me any tips or tell me if you spot something wrong! Thanks!

Heirloom tomatoes. The one in the front is in sad shape. I bought an Heirloom mix from Gurneys and they weren't labeled! I had no clue which were indeterminate and which were determinate and the determinate one was planted behind the taller ones. I felt it MIGHT be rescued if I transplanted it. I don't think it is working!

Wow, that's a really great garden! It looks like you should be preparing for a nice harvest.

I've only used triple 12. A friend of ours recommended it, but next year I am going to use my homemade compost instead. The 12-12-12 was applied before tilling and no other amendments have been made.

My only problem with the soil is that it does get compacted easily, even though it is a nice sandy loam. I am going to be using a no dig method next year, and the years to come, using the Vegetable Gardener's Bible method to prevent any walking on planting areas.

Do you use any amendments to your soil? What are your results?

I only wished I had done a better job ammending the soil. I threw in a bit of lime, and mixed in some dry chopped leaves. I've been since trying to compensate for what the soil lacks by airrating regularly, throwing in eggshells, coffee grounds, miracle grow, and more recently grass clippings. Next year I have plans to use a healthy dose of compost and compost teas, and a lot less manual labor!.

Thank you all! I started gardening last year, and I have become obsessed! I researched all throughout winter on what to grow, companion planting, etc.

I bought one book that I use a lot. Guide to Vegetable Gardening in Indiana. I think if there is a book for your state, you should buy it! My next books I will buy are Vegetable Gardener's Bible and Square Foot Gardening.

I guess it helps that I live in a climate that is beneficial to gardening. Even though I am jealous of the longer growing times that southern gardens have, I wouldn't trade my healing freezes for anything :)

Thank you for your comments!
