blanching peas question

Should I take sweet peas out of the pod before blanching them or blanch the peas pod and all???[/img]

It depends on the variety of peas. "Edible pod" peas--blanch the whole thing. A great saving in time, and even more delicious leguminous scrumptious-ness :!: to eat. :D

We had peas for dinner and for the 2nd time, I blanched them in the pods and then shelled them afterwards. I tried this the first time because of previous experience with Edamame (green soybeans) -- they taste 100% better blanched in their pods. Well. I'm sold. Better tasting, if somewhat more time consuming, to blanch in their pods. Maybe not the best method when not just for family meals. I shell them while still pretty hot, and mix with unsalted butter and sea salt.
