Pepper plants are down

We've had a ton of rain and some hi winds yesterday, and this morning all my pepper plants were lying on the ground, and not looking very good (wilted) I staked them up, is there any chance that they can survive? I'm not sure if it was the hi winds or too much rain.

The vascular tissue is pretty tough (think celery strings) so even if the supporting tissue of the stem was kinked the plant should be able to function staked up again. Rough treatment can cause wilting so wait and see.

Thank you very much for the info, I guess all I can do is let nature take it's course.
