I was somewhat thinking leaf miner as well but the other damage didn't reflect this.

Spraying insecticides will not kill the leaf miner being as they are in between the leaf skins. Best bet is to cut off any and all leaves that show leaf miner damage and discard DO NOT throw in compost.

I agree, it looks like leaf miner. We had it at one of our Columbine plants, we cut off the bad leaves and the plant looks fine now. :D

Thank you for your advice. I never see the bugs so wasn't sure what it was.

If it is leaf miner damage, be sure to discard the leaves far from your garden. It may not even be a bad idea to just throw them away, but that might be a little over-kill.

lilcee,
Thank you for your advice. I never see the bugs so wasn't sure what it was
Leafminers are between the layers of the leaf. Take one of the leaves with the scrolls and peel it open. Then you will see.

Oh, OK, thanks.
Love your dog pic. Reminds me of a dog I used to have - I miss him.

Yes, they are inside the leaves, that's why they say to dispose of the leaves separately from the garden or compost heap. If you just pluck off the leaves and let them lie around in the garden, the miner will just find another host plant.
