when to pick snap peas?

I have a small snap pea plant that has a few pods on it but they are about 2 1/2 inches. What length should they be before I pick them?

I usually let mine get to about 3-4 if I'm just eating the pod. If I want peas, I let them grow until the pods fill out and become hard.

I would not judge harvest on the length but fullness. You should see and feel little ripples in the shell. If the shell gets rough, you waited to long.
