Great looking Strawberry plants you have there Jal !
My June bearing strawberries just finished up... here in TN, they are actually "May bearing", so I feast on Strawberries through May, and now I am already missing them ... good thing I've got Blackberries to look forward to in July.
I've got some Everbearing strawberry plants coming along, that I just planted this Spring. I hope to get a Fall crop from those this year.
I am also going to envestigate getting some Day Neutral strawberries, to see if those would give me some production throughout the Summer.
I love fresh organic Strawberries !

The strawberries are everbearing. I don't know the variety name.
The Egyptian onions are closer to two feet tall.
The rhubarb plant is 4 years old.

Make more vegetable stalks? Are you kidding? I don't even like the stuff. It is just for show. Eat very much of that and you will have kidney stones.I see you are letting the rhubarb flower. Why is that? Are you trying to get seeds from it? Otherwise I think they usually say to cut the flower stalks off before it flowers, to keep the plant's energy going to making more vegetable stalks; Flowering can reduce the vigor of the plant.
BTW, pulling the leaves off the poor thing really reduces the vigor.

They should give you a fall crop. Those in the picture were planted about a year ago and they gave me a fall crop. I have another patch with two different varieties of everbearers. The one produces more runners than the other. I decided I like the ones that make the most runners so that is what I moved to the new bed. I just moved the young plants.I've got some Everbearing strawberry plants coming along, that I just planted this Spring. I hope to get a Fall crop from those this year.

I have the Tribute Everbearing strawberries, and they are sending out "a ton" of runners. I've been pruning off some of the runners, just to keep things from getting out of control.jal_ut wrote:... Nothing like a good knife to weed between plants.

The peas are growing, but no blossoms yet. Most years we are eating peas by now.

These little onions were grown from seed. I have a 33 foot row of them. I am going to have plenty of green onions.

The clover is in bloom and the bees are loving it. No bees in the picture because I took it after sundown.

Looking good James as always. Now that is a head of lettuce, I thought mine were big but they are about half to a 1/4 of that.jal_ut wrote:
One plant of Black-seeded Simpson Lettuce
I love the comment about the rhubarb. "It's just for show". Just like me I plant thing just to watch them grow as well. I am going to let my lettuce up front in my flower garden go to flower just to see what it looks like.
Funny thing about my flower garden is 90% of what is growing I transplanted or planted the seed. Most everything I bought for the "flower garden" part has died off a long time ago.

I have a small patch of spinach that I've tried my hand at twice and still nothing to get excited about. My uncle suggested I cover them with a cloth and keep it wet, and it should help. We'll see. BTW, I'm in zone 6a.

Hilling up the potatoes.
sassyjvg, that spinach looks like it just needa a bit more time. Spinach likes to grow in the early spring while the weather is cool. It is one of the earliest things planted here. If it doesn't make it now with the warm weather, try again very early next year. You could probably plant in early March. If your spinach starts to bolt, pick all the bigger leaves and use them. You will then get something for your effort.

Gorgeous lettuce. I can never get my greens to NOT have bug holes in them. Your rhubarb looks nice too.. I was wondering if you had advice on starting a rhubarb plant? I LOVE rhubarb. My rhubarb pie will knock yer socks off (excuse my modesty ), but I have to buy it from a local grower. My great-grandma grew her own. She is also the one that gave me the 'knock yer socks off' recipe. I'd love to be able to do it just like her! : )

Buy a rhubarb plant from a nursery. Sometimes the Big Box stores will have them too. You need to dedicate a spot for it at least 5 feet diameter. They do get large. Full sun. If you have room get two. They are easy to grow. Fertile soil, mulch etc.Your rhubarb looks nice too.. I was wondering if you had advice on starting a rhubarb plant?
