Bean leaves eaten to a lacy look.
Beans sprouted over the weekend while I was away - looked beautiful on Sunday evening when I returned. Something is at them though. The leaves of a few plants are eaten almost completely away, the others look lacy w/ all the holes. I don't see any bugs - checked under the leaves as well. I can only do this in the morning and at night though, as I work during the day. Any ideas on what it is and how I can get rid of it? TIA!
Night is a good time to find the slugs and snails which are (most likely) eating those plants. I've been indoors for several days with a heavy workload and a post-op dog. I went to the street today to wheel back the garbage cans (woohoo! an outing!) and saw that one of my potato plants was eaten to stems.
Slugs/snails. So tonight I'll be out there after Doggy is asleep, with my flashlight and trowel, ready to bash them into the soil, where they can "give back" to my soil the nutrients they have stolen from my plants.

Just ran out between rain storms with a flashlight to take a look. No sign of slugs, but I did see some kind of bug perched on the worst leaf. I tried to grab it, but missed and couldn't find it again. I want to say it was some kind of winged insect - at least, that was my first impression. But then as I was looking at the rest of the plants, I noticed a lot of those pincher bugs around the area. Do they eat plants?
ETA - just looked up pincher bug. They're freaking earwigs! I never *knew* that! Well...looks like the mystery is solved. Off to google organic earwig control.
