I was just curious as to how much I should water my garden... It's my first one, and am still planning on putting in more things as soon as the weather stays warm enough.

If you are starting from seeds you should keep them moist(not soaking) until they are all up.After that a good rule of thumb is at least an inch per week between rain and watering.All at once.Give a good deep watering weekly rather than lightly every day or two.

Hard to give any definite answer, because it depends on a bunch of things like how much rain (if any) you get, humidity, heat/sun, how well drained your soil is, what kind of plants you have, etc.

But above is good advice. Basically for seeds I water frequently but not real deep, enough to keep them moist but not wet or waterlogged. Once you have established plants with decent root systems, you want to move towards less frequent, deeper waterings. Stick a finger a couple inches down into the soil. If it is dry that deep, it's time to water.

Adding mulch on top of your beds will help conserve the water.
